Thoughts of a first time Tewist

Submitted by David Leanio

I wrote this after my first trip to Tew Lake. In it
are my impressions and expressions of the experience.

From the sky, a maze of lakes and rivers intertwined
as far as the eye can see. As we reach our
destination, the De Haviland Beaver float plane
circles the lake with its single cabin the only
vestige of civilization and splashes effortlessly onto
the crystal waters of Tew.

And now, the anticipation is fulfilled, ?.. The
adventure begins!

The tingle that comes with the first tap tap of the line!

The rush of the first strike!

Set the hook! Set the hook!

Surrounding this excitement is nature's beauty in its
most simplistic state:

The remnants of a long departed trapper. Was his a
lonely existence or one filled with the commune of
mother natures creatures of the north woods?

The great Moose and her calf foraging for food.

The beaver, forging ahead with his life's duties.
Decidedly irritated by our presence, casting a wary
eye our way as he moves felled timbers to his new
home.

The nights are filled with stories of bears, eagles,
moose and of course the fish, ones caught and those
that got away.

And then there were the lights? oh those Northern
lights! Dancing on the horizon to the backdrop of an
emblazoned sky.

Oh well,?. There really are no words that can do Tew
justice?. ya just gotta be there!!!!!

And as I gaze fondly at that last remaining mosquito
bite, the anticipation begins ?..?..

TWO THOUSAND TWO?TWO THOUSAND TWO?TWO THOUSAND TWO

Looking forward to Sessi and new adventures.
